Experienced AG Field Service Technician

SUMMARY
Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must have good mechanical, customer service and communication skills.
Must be motivated, have good computer skills and work independently.
Will service mechanical/electrical repair on combines and planting equipment in shop and at customer locations.
Troubleshooting, delivering setting up and demonstrating new equipment.
This position will require fieldwork out of a field service truck, must have ability to work without supervision.
Hydraulic troubleshooting.
Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
Accounts for all time and material used in performing assigned duties.

QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience performing service repairs.
Must supply your own tools
Ability to perform complex repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on the machines of the Technicians specialty.
Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment.
Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred.
Valid drivers license required; CDL and fork lift license preferred.
MUST have clean driving record

HOURS
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday 8am-Noon
Extended hours during busy seasons

Participates in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
Accounts for all time on a time card and for all material used in performing assigned duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

1+ years of experience performing service repairs.
Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronics used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment.
Ability to use basic computer functions.
Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
Basic Service Technician certification preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred.
Clean driving record with a valid drivers license.
Fork lift license preferred.

Inventory Control

Purpose:
Manage all new complete goods inventories by monitoring IN/OUT log sheets, loading equipment into the business system and assisting with website listings.

Responsibilities:

Loads all equipment(new and used) into dealer business system with accurate descriptions in a timely manner
Monitors IN/OUT log for accuracy and marks equipment in and out when needed
Ensures equipment information in the dealer business system and/or dealership website is accurate and timely updated
Oversees used equipment refurbishing and storage process
Responsible for tracking manuals, accessories, and attachments that go with equipment(pto shafts, attaching parts, etc.)
Helps with coordinating internal transfers of new equipment between dealership locations
Works with sales staff to locate and transfer equipment to/from other dealerships to satisfy customer needs
Provides guidance to the Parts Department on attachments needed based on seasonality and market trends
Coordinates the set-up process for stock equipment with the Service Department
Participates in internal and external inventory audits to verify inventory records are accurate
Communicates with sales managers and sales staff on equipment availability and order status
Communicates regularly with other departments (used equipment, parts, service, accounting)
Helps to ensure John Deere Envirocrates, pallets and shipping stands are returned consistently
Work with trucking coordinator to oversee lot personnel and organization of equipment on lot and in showroom
Work with sales department to ensure a good display of equipment in the showroom and around outside of building
Auction responsibilities
Additional duties as assigned including but not limited to: Working with items for open house, and working with other special events

Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required in the set-up and delivery process.
Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
Accounts for all time and material used in performing assigned duties.
May participate in Service Educate Training Programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.

Service Writer

SUMMARY
Assist the Service Manager in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service departments operation within the dealership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager and maintains control until they are closed and invoiced.
Maintains the service library with current information (for example, files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service Manager.
Maintains Service Department filing and records.
Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders.
Maintains accessories and supplies and prepares replacement orders.
May prepare Service Technician efficiency reports.
Code Technicians time.
May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-up.
Prepares billing for PMs, Repairs, and CODs.
Follow up with Technicians to make sure they are preparing their own repair quotes and billing time out for quote preparation.
Coordinate pick up and delivery schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of accounting practices.
Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
Knowledge of office procedures.
General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Must have a valid drivers license
Must have a clean driving record
