The small engine mechanic will independently performs basic/complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment/outdoor power equipment. Employees will receive on-the-job training as well as other training through John Deere University (JDU), Honda and STIHL.

Essential Functions:
- Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer.
- Participates in all job-related training and development.
- Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
- Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
- Maintains condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment.

Compensation
- Hourly, depends on experience
- Incentives available

Hours:
- FULL TIME- 8-5 M-F
- Saturdays are required in peak season (April-June, or as needed)
- During seasonal/peak-time longer hours may be required

Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: Electrical diagnostic experience, basic computer skills, basic tool set/box
- 2-3 years of experience as a mechanic performing service repairs on gasoline engines
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance on engines using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
- Fork lift license preferred
- Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification preferred
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
- Physical requirements are bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for long periods of time, ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills (MS Suite, Internet, Windows)
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
- Valid, clean driver's license is required

Job Description:
Experienced mechanic needed for a position covering a wide range of construction and farm equipment. This position requires the ability to work independently in performing repairs and maintenance, including strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronics. Individual should have solid diagnostic and repair skills.

Description in detail:
- Perform heavy equipment inspections and repairs.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic breakdowns on heavy equipment
- Work independently with no supervision
- Work on Bobcat, Kubota, New Holland and other brands of equipment

Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Qualified candidates must have 3+ years of successful hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, diagnostics, and be very experienced with the latest electronically controlled machines.
- Must be able to fully comprehend hydraulic and electrical schematics with a history of successful troubleshooting and technical experience.
- Must maintain daily service reports, equipment status reports,
- Competent in MS Excel / Word / Outlook (email) for technical questions with equipment manufacturers and suppliers. We can train you on the software (Microsoft Office) but you MUST know how and be willing to fill out daily service reports
- Must be able to communicate professionally and in a service-oriented manner, both written and verbally, to: customers, fellow workers, vendors, manufacturers, etc. for technical questions and support.
- Valid driver's license is required for this position.
- Must be able to operate a laptop computer for service reports and time reporting.
- Basic tool set required for position; Company will provide specialty tools/equipment.
- Must have ability to complete written service reports and report time worked.

ADMINISTRATIVE/COMPUTER SKILLS:
- This position requires daily proficient use of a company-provided personal computer.

Responsibilities: Safely operate trucks for the pickup and delivery of equipment, parts and supplies to and from the Dealership. Sell White's Farm Supply's parts, labor and whole goods service 100% of the time. Follow instructions for the pickup, transportation and delivery of equipment, parts and supplies to Customers and suppliers of the Dealership. Properly load, flag and unload trucks. Check condition of the equipment delivered. Give basic instruction to the Customer on operating the equipment. Operate trucks owned by the Dealership and hold the required licenses. Keep a truck driver log, all necessary paperwork, physicals when requested and any other legal requirements to drive. Obtain necessary signatures and receipts. Obtain any required permits to haul freight in or out of the state. Keep the trucks in excellent condition by performing necessary maintenance and repairs. Participate in Company functions and meetings, visiting with the Customers. Be sure that every trip and load hauled are documented, either with a delivery and pickup order or a job ticket. Check with the Dealership before leaving any location for any instructions on additional jobs, returned loads, etc. Make certain all Customer paperwork is included with the delivery, i.e., Operator's Manual, and that the Warranty Registration is signed. If there are any obvious problems do not deliver the machine to the Customer without approval of the Service Manager and Salesman. Promote Preventative Maintenance Service Specials and help educate our Customers on how they benefit from them. Dress like a professional every day. Treat Customers and co-workers in a friendly, courteous manner. Account for 100% of time and report this to the Service Clerk. Report shortages or problems, noted by yourself or the Customer at the time of delivery to the Service Manager and Salesman. Avoid allowing personal affairs to interfere with daily professional activities. Perform other miscellaneous duties assigned to the job and to meet the needs of the Service Department.

Qualifications: Must have a CDL A with a clean driving record. Must be organized and able to work independently. Must have a good working knowledge of the equipment, work with customers and salesman for successful customer relationship. Applicant must have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
