Status: Full Time
Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned generators. May requires some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or other Service Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on generators.
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Participates in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
Accounts for all time on a time card and for all material used in performing assigned duties.
Accounts for all mileage assigned to work orders. Creates repair quotes and assumes responsibility for work variances.
Responsible use of company credit card and effective expense reporting.
Required to support emergency pager system.
1+ years of experience performing service repairs.
Electrical experience either through an apprenticeship program or job related training preferred.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronics used in the repair of generators.
Ability to use basic computer functions.
Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. repeatedly.
EGSA Service Technician certification preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have a clean driving record
Fork lift license preferred.
Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
